Gary Cook is a Senior Associate practising in commercial and complex property law across Victorian and New South Wales jurisdictions.
Gary advises on a broad range of property matters, including off-the-plan residential, commercial and industrial developments, retirement village matters, subdivisions and consolidations, trust transfers, easements, and the full spectrum of ad hoc property issues that tend to arrive with the words “just a quick question”.
Gary has been with the firm since 2013 and was admitted as a lawyer in 2017. Before his admission, he spent seven years working as a law clerk at firms in both Melbourne and country Victoria, giving him a strong practical grounding in property law long before he was officially allowed to put “lawyer” after his name.
Known for his strategic, commercial and detail-focused approach, Gary is calm under pressure, empathetic with clients and committed to giving advice in plain English. He helps clients understand their options, manage risk and progress matters efficiently, particularly where transactions involve multiple moving parts, competing priorities or unexpected complications.
Away from the office, Gary is a passionate AFL follower and a rusted-on supporter of the Essendon Football Club—a commitment that has tested his resilience on more than one occasion. Gary also enjoys spending time with family and friends and keeping up with his pet cavoodle Harvey, who is convinced that every walk, meal and household decision should revolve around him.
